treasure chest
the treasure chest challenge
i have always admired the form of the storybook treasure chest and wanted to make one myself. It was more of a challenge than I expected. I made it more difficult because I wanted the lines to be subtly slanted and a little fitted tray inside. It took much patience to bend the wood - wet it down, bend a little, hold til dry, repeat. It turned out so sweet I almost decided against the black leather; but, then I thought it needed that nod to tradition. The inside however! The most gorgeous Fortuny Rose fabric. She is a beauty; and, even though I love the form, I’ll probably never make another.
